Day 11 - Le Brevent - Les Houches One would hope that the last day out of the circuit would be an easy one. The guidebook’s preview made the day look reasonable. At first we strolled along making good time, thinking, ahhh, how comfortable this hiking thing can be. Soon a rock scramble appeared, then a few hours later the trail turned into a snow-covered quarry of large scattered stones. The snow was slick and mostly untraversed. We toiled along, but knowing we were closing in on completing the circuit, it was easy to push ahead. At the end of the scramble was the peak where a tram could take us up and therefore also down. Tempting as it might have been, after eleven days we refueled a bit and proceeded. It was our last big descent and we figured it was clear sailing. There was a refuge halfway down, so we stopped for a bite to eat. As we did, we got buzzed by a glider. It was pretty wild to be that close to a plane soaring at eye level with no motor.
