Kachin Tribal Village Trek, Burma/Myanmar - Hiking in the Jungles of Burma In camp we got distracted by Shegee (Giant in Burmese) our very tall porter, constructing a fire from some very wet wood. He was a real pro, getting the fire started in no time. Truth be told, he had a secret. A solid steel, crank-driven air blower that he used to first nurse and then fan the flames. Kirk and I both immediately added it to our shopping list upon our return to Yangon.
The highlight of the next day was when we were immersed in a giant forest of rhododendrons, the long glossy leaves as the only legacy to what must have been spectacular summer blooms.
Yes, the trail actually went strait up the tree roots.
We finally made it to what would be our last camp site, our base camp.
