Kachin Tribal Village Trek, Burma/Myanmar - Hiking in the Jungles of Burma

The easy pace led to a mostly carefree walk during which my jovial mood contaminated Kirk. The frivolity was much to Nancy’s disapproval. He now sings “Bravely bold Sir Robin goes forth from Camelot...” along with other quotes from the movie Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Much to the pleasure or dismay of my friends I have the ability to instantly memorize and recite comedies.

The next morning we woke early to the melody of monkeys chattering in the distance. This was probably the least groomed trail I ever walked along. The trail was barely existent, even after the lead porters hacked and slashed at it with their machetes. Its incline was incredibly steep and a never-ending series of branches hung dangerously low for a non-vertically challenged 6’2” trekker like myself. I was amazed I didn’t smack myself into a concussion.
