Kachin Tribal Village Trek, Burma/Myanmar - Hiking in the Jungles of Burma The next day’s hike was an easy one, long but level most of the day. We passed through three villages that were similar to the one we stayed. The most intriguing aspect of the day were the many suspension bridges. Swaying in the wind, they were flimsily constructed with rattan and bamboo hand ropes, v-ing down to support a walking path of a thin series of wooden planks a few inches wide. Strung across a river, each bridge looked like it could never hold your weight, let alone the combined weight of you and your pack. I am happy to report, they held up just fine.
