3/25 – On to Ghandruk

That night Padam dreamt he sawed off his feet. I just can’t imagine what could have inspired that! The trail went through a moss covered Rhododendron forest interspersed with lilacs that gave the trail a refreshing scent. The trail first climbed about 305m / 1000’ to a view equal to the one from Poon Hill. Many of the Rhododendrons were in bloom, giving the forest a pleasant, reddish hue.

A bit down the trail, we saw monkeys playing in the tops of the blooming Rhododendrons. Padam and I stealthily moved to get in a good position for a photo. There were more than four monkeys up there, at least until another French group came by shouting “Look, monkeys!” Of course, that was the end of the monkeys, they all scattered. “Oh, they are running away again,” shouted another of their boisterous party. No kidding! I wanted to run as well.
