3/26 – On to Pokhara and Civilization
I got up at 2:00 AM to shoot the Fish Tail (Machhapuchre) mountain. Got some good shots, but they had a lot of noise. I took shots to the sun started to rise and then we packed for our last hike. There is an old expression, “Revenge is a dish best served cold.” It is very cold in the Himalayas. I decided to get back at Padam for the tractor ride and Seba and I placed rocks in his bag. He figured it out pretty quickly and was good for a laugh.

Pokhara was a pleasant change from other villages and cities in Nepal. Situated by a reasonably wide and quiet lake, it’s much more peaceful than Kathmandu or its touristy suburb Thamel. We got our first real meal in two weeks at a lakeside restaurant. We relaxed while we engulfed a full juicy tandoori chicken and garlic naan.

After lunch we walked around a bit, got a shave and haircut, and then went back to the hotel owned by Padam’s sister-in-law.

Once back there was one last item on the to-do list before I left. I wanted a better photo of a snake charmer than from my previous trip. I hadn’t seen one this time, so Padam and I headed out on his motorcycle to find one. As you can see below, we succeeded.
