The Inca Trail Trek - More and More Ruins The trail did get more interesting as we progressed with more and more ruins scattered around the landscape. Sadly, just as Matt was doing better, another member of our group now suffered with an ankle swollen like a melon. Eventually, I talked him into using one of my hiking poles. Damn proud Britt had put off surgery so he could participate in the hike. We walked, well he hopped, from one set of ruins to another. Terraced walls built up to the main chambers of the ruins, while the translucent fog set a wonderfully eerie tone. Now this was what I envisioned when I heard about the Inca Trail.
