Haute Route - Hiking From Barrage De Moiry to Col de Sorebois - Zinal

Again the weather was supposed to change for the worse, so we got a bagged breakfast the night before, ate early, and headed onto the trail by 7:30 am. We had only a single 550m / 1,800’ climb right at the start of the day. At the very least we hoped to achieve the col before the rain started. We climbed with a beautiful view of the lake while shaded from the sun.

As we got farther down our path was blocked by three very lazy, lounging cows. They didn’t seem to want to move for us. I half expected the little French guy from Monty Python to pop out and taunt us. After Jennifer played with the cows for a bit and was covered in cow snot we headed into the forest.

Although fairly dark, both sides of the path were covered with huge pink and white wild flowers as high as our shoulders. Just before we left the forest and entered town it started to sprinkle.
