3/22 - On to the Hot Springs and Tatopani Now at lower altitudes, I finally had a great night’s sleep, over nine hours and I needed it. As we left town we passed many work crews on the new road. Their chores ranged from manually hauling dirt to chipping away at rocks or driving pipes to drill holes for dynamite. To it’s credit Tatopani purportedly had hot springs. Given my experience in Peru at the end of the Inca Trail Trek where the “hot springs” were way too skanky to take a dip, I was quite leery of what they would look like. Tatopani’s hot springs turned out to be significantly better. There were two slate lined “pools” and a place to rinse off before you took a dip. I soaked for twenty minutes, not wanting to soften my already abused feet too much. The story continues...
