Gear Heads - Camp Shoes No matter how much you want to reduce weight and no matter how comfortable you believe your boots feel before the trek, once you’ve hiked in your boots day after day, you’ll want something more comfortable to wear in camp. Since you won’t be walking with a pack, or for any considerable distance in your camp shoes, I recommend going as light as possible. Recently I’ve started wearing aqua socks as a camp shoe. A slip on neoprene shoe, they are light, compact and can double as a shower shoe or can be slipped on when you need to cross a river. Other water shoes may make a reasonable option as well.
